Catfish fillet with parsley and garlic is a light but satisfying dish that combines oven-baked fish, a fresh vegetable salad and tender mashed potatoes. This recipe is perfect for both everyday lunches and special occasions when you want something tasty but not burdensome. Preparing catfish is quick and easy – you only need a few spices to reveal its flavor.

A classic vegetable salad with a light mustard and lemon dressing and fluffy mashed potatoes seasoned with a pinch of turmeric are perfect as a side dish. This is a dish that will appeal to both fish lovers and those who are just starting to discover it. It is not only easy to prepare, but also full of good fats and proteins.

Catfish Fillet with Parsley and Garlic

Ingredients:

  • 450 g catfish fillet
  • 2 tbsp dried parsley
  • 1 tbsp garlic granules
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste
  • for garnish: alfalfa sprouts, lemon, basil leaves (optional)

For salad:

  • 200 g cucumbers
  • 150 g tomatoes
  • 150 g iceberg lettuce
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • salt, freshly ground pepper, to taste

For mashed potatoes:

  • 300 g potatoes
  • 80 ml milk
  • 15 g butter
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste
  • turmeric, to taste

Directions:

  1. Rub the fish with spices and leave for 10-20 min. to marinate.
  2. To prepare the mashed potatoes, peel the potatoes, cut them, put them in a pot, pour water, salt and cook until soft.
  3. When the potatoes are cooked, drain them, add butter and mash them.
  4. Then pour in the milk, add the spices, mix well and heat for a few minutes while stirring.
  5. Fry the prepared fish in an electric grill greased with a drop of oil, or in the oven in grill mode or in a frying pan for about 5–10 min., depending on the thickness of the fish.
  6. For the salad, cut the vegetables and mix with oil, mustard, lemon juice and spices.
  7. Serve the prepared fish with salad and mashed potatoes or another desired side dish. You can decorate it with sprouts, basil and lemon.
